Australian solar power technology which floats on water wins India

• AUSTRALIAN solar power company Sunengy has partnered with Indian power utility Tata Power for a pilot plant of its floating-on-water solar technology
• Sunengy specialises in Liquid Solar Array technology, which has at its core a standard photovoltaic concentrator utilising lightweight plastic concentrator lens which floats on water, mounted on anchored rafts. These concentrators track the sun daily and seasonally.
• The photovoltaic cells are housed in a container which sits in the water. The water, through convection action, cools these cells for improved efficiency. The lenses will also retreat under the water during hail or high wind weather events for protection.
• This technology is said to utilise well-established solar and structural component technologies, while using relatively simple and less materials. The innovative use of water reduces the need for expensive supporting structures.
• The pilot and demonstration system will be online by the end of 2011. Construction will start in August 2011.
• Sunengy intends for the LSA technology to be located on and combined with hydroelectric dams to increase the power generation capacity of those sites. An LSA installation could match the power output of a typical hydro dam using less than 10 percent of its surface area. Other markets include mining sites as well as villages and remote communities reliant on diesel power generators.
• Sunengy plans to establish a larger LSA system in the NSW Hunter Valley in mid 2012 before going into full production.

T-Mobile LG G-Slate which features three cameras, there are two cameras facing the rear (one for videos, the second one for stills and LED flash available for both) and the third one is a front facing camera. The touchscreen display is only 8.9-inch, however this is more than compensated for with the 3D feature. And one more thing that the iPad 2 still doesn’t have is a 1080p compatible video natively. The tablets are available in two versions, of 32 GB or 64 GB and are running on a dual core Tegra 2 processor. The device provides some Google Mobile apps such as Google Maps, Talk, and Video.
The next competitor is Motorola XOOM Tablet PC which features a 16:9 widescreen HD display , a 10.1-inch screen and 1200-pixel by 800-pixel resolution, which is a little bit more than what the iPad offers with a 9.7-inch screen and 1024-pixel by 768-pixel resolution. It’s a genuine multitasker. For instance iPad 2 only permits limited multitasking in the background and its resolution equates to a ratio of 4:3. As for batteries this Motorola device’s battery can last as long as the iPad’s, namely up to 10 hours (we are talking about devices of similar size to the iPad 2). Other aspects of Motorola XOOM Tablet PC are two cameras, a Micro USB port and an HDMI out connector. Like in the case of the T-Mobile LG G-Slate the device is powered by a Tegra 2 Dual Core CPU. In general the XOOM will cost approximately the same price as the iPad 2 but will offer only half of the features.
ASUS Eee Slate EP121 Tablet PC is a strong competitor too as it presents more options than the iPad 2. An Intel Core i5 CPU and Intel-based HD graphics system powers this processor. The display is really impressive (12.1-inch, 1280-pixel by 800-pixel resolution). The device is complete with two built-in USB ports, a Bluetooth Keyboard, a Pen Stylus, a mini HDMI out port and dual card reader. To get this device you will have to pay much more than the iPad2.
